1.618 (Impossible to Divide) - NFS

1.618 (Impossible to Divide) - NFS by Lisa Gregory, Acrylic, 20 x 16 x .5

Acrylic on Canvas 20 x 16 x .5 Donated

“1.618 (Impossible to Divide)” is an original hand-painted quadriptych made from four 10x8” canvases framed as one. The canvases can be  switched up, separated, rearranged, and even divided up into four parts. But the golden ratio itself (1.618) cannot be divided because of being irrational (which could be why my smaller squares never measure evenly on all sides). If you've ever had trouble deciding on a favorite color or figuring out whether you preferred odd or even numbers, this could be the painting for you. The background includes an array of primary and secondary colors and the spiral shapes glow especially bright if you shine a little blacklight onto them.

UPDATE: NFS I donated this piece for a raffle to benefit music and art teachers at a public school in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
